EnvChangeGlobe
As a student of the Earth, I have read hidden stories written in rock formations, decoded ancient climate history from isotope dating, and witnessed the mighty forces that have shaped our planet. But the story of the Earth is telling us now is unlike any other in history. It is a story of rapid, human-driven change. It is a story we all must understand to write a better ending.
I am a professional Geologist, and we don’t think in months, years, or decades; we believe in millennia and epochs. This ‘deep time’ perspective is essential for depicting the current rate of CO2 increase and the unprecedented global warming in the context of Earth’s entire history. I trust the data of fossil assemblages in sediment layers and chemical signals preserved in ice cores. The evidence of man-made climate change is as vivid and consistent as the records of asteroid impacts and ice ages.
The Earth is a complex and interconnected system. The change in the atmosphere affects the oceans by causing acidification due to rising CO2 levels, the cryosphere by causing ice melting, and the erosion and sedimentation of the top layers of the lithosphere. My focus is to elaborate on these interconnected complex systems and their very real-world consequences.
You can consider “EnvChangeGlobe” my contribution to fighting for our lovely planet. I will translate the complex science of climate change into apparent, accessible, and compelling information. I aim to empower communities and the public by raising awareness not just of the problems, but also of the solutions.
The time for action is now, and I invite you to join me on this journey. Read, share my posts with your network, ask questions in the comments, and let’s start a conversation. Our collective future depends on a well-informed and active public. Together, we can be the generation that heeds the Earth’s warning and chooses a sustainable path.
